Ragdoll Cattery Di Dossie

Lizzy

Lizzy (Trijntjes Lizzy on the pedigree) is our very first ragdoll and the "culprit" of our love for this breed.
In 2018 we bought her as a friend for Zuma.
In 2019 she had her first litter of kittens with us and not only her first litter but also ours.
What a joy that was, and how difficult it was to say goodbye to these kittens.
The female from this litter went to live with my parents-in-law (and later with my sister-in-law) to have her mated at a later age.

In 2020 she had a second litter with us, she also raised this litter super well!

At the end of 2020 she escaped like a real Houdini from our fenced garden and we lost her for almost 24 hours.

Eventually we found her again under the decking in the front garden of our neighbors and it turned out that she had broken her pelvis.
We suspect she was hit by a car, but we will never know for sure.
At that moment I immediately decided that she did not need to have any more babies and that she would be castrated when she was completely healed. After 6 weeks of crate rest, she was slowly allowed to walk "loosely" in the house again and luckily that all went well and after a few more weeks of being careful, she was back to her old self!
In April 2021 she came into heat again and I made an appointment with the vet for castration.
I had not been home for 10 minutes and the vet already called..... she had a Hernia Diaphragmatica (tear in the diaphragm), everything that should actually be in her abdominal cavity was in her chest cavity. Presumably there was already a small tear after her escape, which became larger over time.
Our fantastic vet asked a specialized vet to perform a recovery operation and 3 days later she went under anesthesia to perform it. Fortunately, the operation went well and after she had fully recovered, she was castrated.

She now has the role of "aunt Lizzy" within our cattery and is more than happy to help the other mothers with caring for and raising the kittens.
